In Japan, recycling is mandatory. As well, when the city comes to collect the trash, they leave a week's supply of biodegradable trash bags made from corn starch. Their use is mandatory as well, plastic trash bags are illegal to use. Corn based bio-bags are a normal part of life.
I applaud your efforts in making and selling corn based bio products in the west, but it is a dis-service to imply that it is a new invention, or something created by the great minds in the west. If more Americans realized just how far in the stone ages we are regarding things like this relative to other "modern" countries, perhaps the embarrassment of it would drive faster development, adoption of "new" ideas and usage.
We need less self-congratulation and more forward movement.
Thanks again for your work. When the use of corn bags is mandatory and legally required in the US and Europe, then we'll have something to brag about.
