We’ve featured quite a bit of optimal and sustainable clothing over the years, but what about those devices you use to hang up your clothing? We mentioned the bioplastic hangers, available from Earthsaver. Now, the Great American Hanger Company has launched a new line of bamboo hangers, and these hangers really show off the beauty of bamboo (see the close-up of one the hangers below). It’s almost a shame to hide these hangers away in your closet.

Ikea Introduces Responsible Products
October 9th, 2005 · No Comments
Ikea challenged 28 designers to create products using simple and repurposed materials. The designers made use of materials such as fish nets, recycled packing crates, bamboo and Indian newspapers. The designs are featured on the Ikea PS web site. Apparently, some of the products are already available in Ikea stores, and all items will be out by March 2006. The Grindtorp cushions seen here are hand-made by women in the Uttar Pradesh region of India. Following the textile tradition of that area, they are made of 100% wool. They are priced at $10 each.

At first glance the surface of these vases look like wood grain. But they are actually constructed entirely out of recycled newspaper and aluminum. The paper is carefully die cut and bound like a book. They have other unusual shapes too. They are prices from $23 to $32.
