Merino wool qualifies as a metaefficient material. It’s softer than regular wool, resists wind, regulates body temperature, and warms better than any synthetic material.

See a full explanation of the advantages of merino wool in this previous post. These jackets by Ibex use merino wool from New Zealand.

Some are made with Loden wool which is a merino wool knit treated with a special cold water process that enhances the weather and stain resistance of the lanolin fibers. Sierra Trading Post has these men’s and women’s jackets on sale for $69.95-$119.95.
