I was surprised that Logitech's portable ipod/iphone speakers weren't listed in the article - I have both of these and they are consistently rated better than any competitor based on portability, sound quality and price point: The first link is their newest portable unit that has an amazing amount of bass considering its size: Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone The $150 MSRP is usually discounted on Amazon by up to $50. If you want even more portability with great sound but not as much bass, you can't go wrong with this unit either: Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 Compact Docking Speakers for iPod and iPhone I don't know if this is still being sold but it is slimmer and a little shorter for even better pack-ability. I assure you that you won't be disappointed by either unit.

I’m no audiophile, but it sounds fine to me and it definitely gets loud enough.
