Last year, we featured a nightclub lit entirely by LEDs, but here’s an office building that is said to be the first to be lit by 100% LED light. The lighting was provided by the Netherlands-headquartered Royal Philips Electronics. To showcase the potential of LED light, Philips designed the lighting system to be warm and visually comforting. A total 422 LED fixtures were installed into the building’s false ceilings. The offices are lit with fixtures that incorporate 12-16 high power LEDs, each rated at 2.6 watts. LED spotlights are used to illuminate the corridors.
The glass façade of the top floors is also lit with LEDs. Philips estimates that market for LED lights like these will grow 30% per year.

This looks pretty awesome. I would, however, have liked to have seen some pics at night when there wasn’t afternoon sun streaming through the windows. Sending this to Mahalo.

Great idea – but I thought task lighting was the way to go.

I suppose you only need to top up the existing daylight, probably not many hours of nighttime work done in the average office environment?

I know of a Russion deli in Washington entirely lit with LED’s. I have pictures if your interested.
I’d be interested in hearing how the occupants like working in an LED environment. Still operating on simple and “light” overhead ambients with task lights for all. Inexpensive-and empowering.
