Solar TilesKyocera has introduced a new solar roof tile. The solar tile is designed so that it blends in with standard roof tiles.

These are not the first solar tiles on the market (see this previous post), but it is the first time a large corporation has introduced them.

Kyocera calls the solar tiles “MyGen Meridian”. The company says the tiles were produced in response to homeowner’s associations that have been critical of conventional solar panel installations due to their ‘added-on’ look.

More information can be found at Renewable Energy Access and on the Kyocera Solar web site.

Take a look at this. The use of low grade or “rejected” silicon makes this a somewhat green and definitely less expensive otion for new bldg, retro-fit or portable uses.
