I like the idea of keeping everything on one site but so long as there are links I don’t think promoting people to move to the other site will be all that difficult. Plus it probably expands your ad base.

Nooo! Please keep it all in one spot! It’s better to have one content-rich site than multiple ones that update infrequently. Keep both domain names and point them to the same page.
