wind_turbine_jiminy_peak_resort.jpgThe first wind turbine to be installed at ski resort in the U.S. was recently turned on, and is producing clean power. The turbine, dubbed “Zephyr”, was installed at Jiminy Peak, a resort in western Massachusetts. The turbine is rated at 1.5 megawatts, and it will produce an estimated 33%-50% of the resort’s power needs, and excess power will go back into the grid. The turbine will be officially dedicated in a ceremony at the turbine site atop Jiminy Peak on August 15, 2007.
