AC Propulsion Converts Cars To Electric Power

Here’s a video from a company called AC Propulsion, showing how straightforward it is to convert your car to electric power.

AC Propulsion uses their patented tZero drive system in place of a regular gasoline-powered engine. The complex circuitry involved in tZero technology allows the driver to charge the car with 120V, 208V or 240V outlets from their home or office.

The AC Propulsion system was recently used by BMW to power their Mini-E.

This is a step in the right direction. But come on. The company’s website lists the price of conversion of the Scion (bought separately) as $55,000. Holy cow! A range of 120 miles and a charge time of 5 hours would make this a product for a large number of people. But the price will never justify it!

It is really frustrating. I get angry sometimes because i cant afford this technology that i really want.

i am shooting for a much more affordable kit from Canev.

I’d say that this particular technology has a window of opportunity… of about 10 (a figure pulled out my arse) years before the combined savings/economies of carbon-fibre and the fact that electric means you can cut out vast numbers of moving parts makes retrofitting a bit uneconomical.

One of the problems with cars as we know them is that they’ve they’re basically huge clanking iron things. The bulk of the energy they use is spent simply getting themselves (rather than the driver) from A to B. They’re not very good in other words.

Oil, $70.00 bbl. and rising, Dollar falling fast! Unemployed rising fast! Trillion dollar loans, scarce! We are in for the big one this time around, and we don’t even make our own cars anymore! The “Smoke Stack Era’ long gone, the Manufacturing moved to Asia, we have little left but corn-farming to support the whole darned thing! Sell electric cars before the Wind Turbines and Solar/Thermal South West is developed? more Nuclear fission fires to pollute the land? I hope not, safer ways are available, and even if we have to cut back just a bit? The Factory Farms will be with us forever though, so no food shortages likely for Americans in this world! Electric cars, toys for the boys, Thats it!
