We’re launching a new site called LED Light Reviews! This site will focus exclusively on LED lights. We’ll review the best LED products, and track innovations in the world of LEDs.

Benjamin has already posted some great reviews like: a solar powered ferris wheel lit up with LEDs, the world’s largest LED chandelier, safety clothing with built-in LEDs, and an ultra-minimalist LED headlamp.

No Impact Man is really on the cutting-edge of efficient, green living. This recent post is a good introduction to what he is all about. While some might think this kind of living is extreme, I think his approach to living actually very practical. It just goes against-the grain our very ineffective societal norms.

Better Thinking, a product think-tank in the UK, has set a challenge to create a garment with world’s lowest eco-footprint, taking everything into consideration to create “‘The Perfect T-Shirt“. They’ve set up a forum to share ideas, knowledge and opinions. They also have a blog which tracks their progress.

FindSolar.Com Site Launched

FindSolar.Com is an impressive new web site that helps answer two important questions: (1) Where can I find solar for my home or business? (2) How much will it cost? By entering your state and county, you get a detailed break-down of the costs for a solar installation, based on 3,100 electric utility rates, county-level solar radiation data, and any available local, state and federal tax incentives. Another useful featured of the site is the “Find a Solar Pro“, which helps you locate a solar installer in your area. The types of installers include: solar electric (PV), solar domestic hot water and pool/spa heating. Nearly 400 solar energy system installers and other solar pros from around the country are currently listed, and hundreds more are expected to be added in the coming months. Overall, this is a great site with a lot of relevant information available for free.

HybridCars.Com is a web site with a lot of up-to-date information on (you guessed it) hybrid cars, trucks and vans. The editor is Bradley Berman who has written a book entitled “An Insider’s Look at Hybrid Cars: How They Work and Why They Matter”.

The web site has an overview of what vehicles are available now and which ones are in the pipeline. They also cover the technology behind hybrids, the mileage numbers, incentives and laws, and a forum to discuss hybrids. Great site — easy on the eyes, easy to navigate.

The website Scorecard: The Pollution Information Site will tell you how clean the air is in your zip code. You can enter your zip code below to test it out:

When the report appears, choose the “Air Quality Rankings: Health Risks, Exposure, and Emissions” link.

The site also has suggestions about how you can help make the air cleaner.

I live in a neighbourhood where over 100 days a year the air is classified as “unhealthy” by the EPA.

The Sustainable Business web site covers news about eco-effective companies. It hosts a large list of the current stock prices of these companies, sorted by industry type (for example “Geothermal” or “Health Care”).

The web site also has a “Green Investor” section, and lists the “20 Most Sustainable Stocks of 2004″. The editor, Rona Field, starts with this introduction:

Wind energy rises by 38%; solar by 25%; organic foods by 38% … The clean technology era we are entering is often compared in scale to the rise of the telecommunications industry in the early 1980s. This is a gigantic opportunity and is the next huge wave of innovation, of investment opportunity, of business creativity. The National Institutes of Health has a database listing the ingredients of these products, the potential health effects, and safety and handling.

Information in the Household Products Database is taken from a variety of publicly available sources, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) prepared by manufacturers.
